This is a great recipe to make in the winter when the options of fresh fruit are limited. I started making this jam a few years ago when I found cranberries on sale the day after Thanksgiving 4/$1. I have also noticed that the jam is super cheap after Christmas as well. I suppose stores are trying get rid of the abundance of leftovers after the holidays. I REALLY enjoy making this jam as it’s SUPER easy, SUPER cheap and SUPER Delish! Enjoy!
Cranberry Chia Jam
All natural ingredients-no sugar or pectin. SUPER simple, 4 ingredients and only takes 10 minutes. This recipe is not as sweet as a typical jam, which is what I prefer. If you want it sweeter, just add more Honey or other natural sweetener such as maple syrup to taste.
Servings 2 8oz Jars
Ingredients
- 12 oz fresh cranberries
- 1/3 Cup Honey Raw Local Honey if you have it
- Juice of 1 orange
- 3 tbsp water
- 1 tsp orange zest
- 2 tbsp chia seeds
Instructions
- In a medium sauce pan add all the ingredients except the chia seed. Cook over medium to low heat stirring occasionally until the cranberries begin to break, about 7-8 minutes. Turn the heat off and with a potato masher or the back of a fork brake some of the cranberries that haven't split leaving a few untouched if you want a chunkier texture.
- Set the pan aside to cool. When the mixture has cooled add the chia seeds and combine. Transfer the mixture to a 8 oz mason jar. Store in the refrigerator.
