Grammie's Chocolate Chip Cookies

The most popular requested cookie of my family, especially my children.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cup Unbleached flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup butter softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tsp Real vanilla
  • 2 tsp almond extract
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 2 cups Semi Sweet or Dark Chocolate Chips or Chunks
  • 1 cup nuts (optional)

Instructions

  • Step 1- Preheat oven to 375 F.
  • Step 2- Combine flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, vanilla extract and almond extract in large mixer bowl until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in morsels and nuts. Drop by cookie scoop or rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets.
  • Step 3- Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Note: for even more deliciousness, brown the butter beforehand by cooking on low heat in a saucepan until the butter turns brown in color. Watch it carefully so it does not burn. Take off heat and set aside to room temperature before using. You can do this step ahead of time and keep in refrigerator. Take out to room temperature to soften before making cookies.
